The present book, in twelve chapters, discusses women’s issues in the history of prophets. Master Gorji interprets the Quran and the Words of Revelation in order to elicit certain deep lessons that can be applied to today’s life.
This work naturally contains many references to the Holy Quran. Yet, for the purposes of this exercise and due to space limitations, it was necessary to be selective when translating this work. Because this book was written by a woman, Master Gorji, the main issue of this work concerns women in the history of the prophets, and also a women’s NGO is involved in publishing it, the translator chose a translation of the Quran by a woman, too. The selected translation of the Quran was done by Tahereh Saffarzadeh, her work published by Kauthar Computer World Company. The translator contacted Master Saffarzadeh and used the translations with her permission. It is worthwhile to mention that her translation of the Holy Quran is among the best works. Throughout this work, there are moments when English translations of the Holy Quran which are based on work of Tahereh Saffarzadeh are different from the translation offered by Master Gorji in the present book. In these cases, the translator has submitted explanations in the footnotes of the difference. The translator used other versions of Quranic translations– among them, the Arthur Auberry’s translation, published by the Center of Islamic Studies.
The translator is so grateful to the Soraya Batmanghelichi for editing the book and especially her patience during the work. The translator also extends his thanks to Elizabeth M. Bucar for her very useful hints on translation.
